Kuduremukh National Park

"Kuduremukh Nationl Park" located in chickkamagalur district in karnataka,India.The word Kuduremukh means 

"Horse Face''.The side of the mountain resembles the shape of a horse face hence it got the name kuduremukh.It is extended about 48kms.Kuduremukh is Karnataka's 3rd highest peak after Mullayangiri and Baba Budangiri.

Location

The Kudremukh National Park  is the second largest Wildlife Protected Area (600.32 km2) belonging to a tropical wet evergreen type of forest in the Western Ghats. Kudremukh National Park is located in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi District and Chikkamagaluru districts of the State of Karnataka. The Western Ghats is one of the thirty four hotspots identified for bio-diversity conservation in the world. Kudremukh National Park comes under the Global Tiger Conservation Priority-I, under the format developed jointly by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and World Wide Fund-USA.

History

   The peak is also mentioned in the historical pages as 

‘Samseparvata” as it is close to Samse.

The mountain peak is the third highest peak in Karnataka. The hill station also has a National Park that is known for Tiger Preservation as well popular for rich bio-diversity. The alluring hill station has many enigmatic places that bewitch anyone. The hills, lakes, valleys, lush greenery etc. attracts many tourists to the location.

In the research studies by an environmentalist Dr. Ullas Karanth, the existence of lion-tailed macaque was in majority in the dense forests of Kudremukh. The forests are home to the lion-tailed macaque due to favorable habitat. The Kudremukh National Park came into existence to preserve these kinds of animals endangered. Finally, in 1987, the preserved forests became a National Park.

The Kudremukh forests with its dense jungles and shola vegetation lie in the bordering area of the Western Ghats covering three districts in Karnataka namely Chikkamagalur, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. The thick shola forests are a home to a variety of flora and fauna.

The highest point in the National Park is the Kudremukh peak 

which is around 1892 meters high. The opulence of the soils is perfect for the growth of lush greenery, hence most of the park is filled with evergreen forests and green grasses. Many flowering plants like the Orchids are found here.

By Rail

Mangalore railway station is the nearest one available.
Taxis, buses or cabs to reach the place from Mangalore.

Bannerghatta National Park:-

Bannerghatta national park near banglore,Karnataka.It is popularly known as BBP. It is founded in 1970 and declared as National park in 1974.In 2002 portion of the park is used for a biological reserve.It is in need to meet the growing demand  tourism,eco recreation and conservation and area is about 550 hectares and biological park is about 730 hectares.
There are ancient temples in the park for worship and it is a destination for trekking and hiking. The Zoo Authority of Karnataka, the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, and the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and Environment (ATREE) are collaborating agencies.

Bannerghatta National park located @ 22km from south of  Banglore city.It is one among the few places in the world where wilderness is preserved so close to a big city. It is having different units 
such as Zoo, Safari, Butterfly Park and Rescue Center

The biological park named for Y M L Sharma who petioned for creation of this park.

Bannerghatta has seperate Elephant Sanctuary.Bannerghatta is the first biological park in India to have a fenced forested elephant sanctuary where elephants can roam around freely without chains. It is designed by elephant expert Carol Buckley and covers an area of 122 acres.

There is a separate musium in the 
zoo which exhibits  a reptile park and a small theatre.
